Jourdan Dunn (born 3 August 1990 in London, England) is a British fashion model. She was discovered in Hammersmith Primark in 2006and signed to Storm Management in London shortly thereafter. In 2008, she was the first black model to walk a Prada runway in over a decade.

 

Jourdan made her runway debut in the New York shows in the fall of 2007, walking in shows for Marc Jacobs and Polo Ralph Lauren. Also in 2007, she was featured on British Vogue as a “new star,” and in 2008 Style.com listed her as one of the top 10 newcomers. In July 2008, she appeared on the cover of the Italian Vogue issue devoted entirely to black models, and was shot for an editorial in American Vogue the same month.


Dunn has modelled for Gap, Topshop, Shiatzy Chen, Benetton, H&M, Neiman Marcus, Victoria’s Secret catalogue, Saks Fifth Avenue, Yves Saint Laurent‘s La Nuit de l’Homme fragrance (alongside Vincent Cassel) and Calvin Klein.In November 2008, Dunn was named “Best Model of the Year” at the British Fashion Awards.

Last season she was quoted saying “ It was good to come back from two seasons off work and see a lot more black models being used-and not just one shade either.”
