Paris Fashion Week: Damir Doma A/W 2010

The Damir Doma presentation last night was one of the best of this Fashion Week, turning the tables on everything we had come to expect. Even the rather classic Garage Turenne seemed a completely different place. If the crowd that gathered in record time is anything to go by, it appeared that Damir Doma is one of the hottest newcomers of the season.
As smoke filled the stage, it was clear that wherever vision had prompted the creation of these looks, it didn’t originate on boring old Earth. Arrival is an apt title for this exciting collection.
Are those the uniforms of some monastic order? Those of an army of warriors? There was even a sprinkling of Sherlock Holmes in the intellectual glasses sported by some models. Over-size coats, larger than life patterns, Fedoras and turbans, the elements were diverse but formed a cohesive narration.
In true blockbuster fashion, women finished off the show, foreshadowing the presentation of his first women’s collection in March.
