Style Whispering at Amanda Wakeley
Saturday morning in London, it is raining or should I say, here comes the deluge…When I just need to go out of the door to meet my sister in whispering, Kristin.
The plan today: Amanda Wakeley. What a surprise to enter Amanda’s flagship store, it feels like entering someone’s dressing room. A strong identity reflected by the furniture and the general ambience.
To me Amanda is all about dresses, more than a mood, each dress is a state of mind. I am to become Amanda’s woman with a French touch of course!
This time we have a new person on board, he is whispering through his lens: Pat Lyttle.
Pat ready, Butter awake, come on Kristin, let’s go!
What would I pick first? …
Some black pieces, a goatskin gilet that I am wearing as a dress: play with the zip and add some jewellery; a black wrap with nothing underneath and zebra printed shoes. I like to re-interpret clothes as to give them another meaning, another reason to be.
Kristin is going for the mustard yellow (“jaune moutarde”in French), why not?! If anybody can, she definitely can.
I admire the way she naturally, with nothing else, would go to a “dîner en ville” with that dress that most of us would consider too much for a simple friendly catch up. After all, being chic is not about wearing designer clothes from head to toe, it is about adding your own mark.
I am not a gown person at all, I would always go for a mini rather than a long dress; however for this shopping spree, I would try on a draped dress. The result: stunning! The dress fits perfectly, it could have been bespoke. For once I have the outfit and only need to find the party.
Back to business, I still have 2 outfits to try, a mini silk dress and a pair of trousers (black as usual). After a couple of hours in Amanda’s world, it seems to me that she designs for a woman that has an attitude, for a woman who would start the conversation and end it.
