Style Whispering at Zadig & Voltaire
When the Cartel starts to whisper…
I met Kristin a year ago in a Starbucks in Notting Hill, she was studying Ancient Greek and I was writing my article for Urban Life Magazine. Things have moved along since then and here we are with The Clothes Whisperer and StyleCartel.com to become Style Whispering.
Style Whispering is a collaboration of two experts sharing their view on brands and instore selections. From Paris to New York, we settled in London to give you some fashion food for thoughts. I am thrilled to launch this project with one of my favourite daywear French brand: Zadig & Voltaire. Zadig as we call it, embodies the spirit of Paris- Rive Gauche. It is refined casual clothing, suggesting more than revealing: a Jane Birkin look.
I was one of the first clients when Thierry Gillier established his line in 1997. I must admit, I betrayed it for a while and came back to it this winter as you would go back to your first love. Is it the Arty Fashion campaign shot by Olivier Zahm from Purple Magazine featuring Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl on the rooftops of Paris that made me, a newborn Londoner, nostalgic of my hometown?
This winter, I am a fan and through our on-site report you will discover my picks to get this sophisticated Parisian silhouette.
Effortless glamour is a French know-how.
When I entered the store, I first saw the red cowboy boots, handmade in Mexico; I cannot help it I am a shoe girl! Then I had to grab a fine cashmere jumper in ink blue to match with my red hat. Oh! I am a shoe and a hat person…
here starts the damage.
Then comes the knit, I love the idea of wrapping myself in a chunky cardigan that gives you a laidback sexy appeal when worn on a lace dress or a tank top.
Grab the sequin daytime jacket or the beaded chiffon top that will surely take you to the 202 (Nicole Fahri store on Westbourne Grove) for brunch next Sunday; Only Zadig brings out this urban chic allure.
Kristin opted for a more rock and grunge attitude. Her picks: the signature’s basics, delicate fabrics paired with leather, studded pieces and skulls. A goatskin handbag or a muti-colour python tote? She can’t make up her mind…
she is a Bag girl!
So open the book and view the story of Kristin and Delphine at Zadig & Voltaire on Westbourne Grove…at the end you will tell me…
are you going for Paris or NY?
My post-scriptum: I totally buy into Zadig & Voltaire’s recently launched music label that promotes young artists; Zadig is more than a fashion brand, it is a lifestyle.
