If you have ever lived in Paris for a considerable amount of time you can understand the feeling of how it starts to grow on you.   There are good times and bad times; there is this je’ne sais pas? About living in Paris.    The now absolutely French – Marc Jacobs ‘ unleashed his Fall/Winter 2009-2010 collection for Louis Vuitton continued in the same spirit of his  Spring/Summer collection for LVMH.

On the runway the archetypal Parisienne women, decked out in 80’s flamboyant 1980s couture, inspired the carnival.

I guess the inevitable return to the 80′s is just the progression in the terms of evolution everything always comes back. Skirts came short and shoulders big, and everything came ruche and ruffled, frilled and flounced. Colures ran the spectrum from somber black, navy or green to paler flesh and camel, with flashes of archetypal. OH and the bunny ears gotta love them.  Can the average girl get away with them? Are they for day or night?  I deem that a real fashion kitten could get away with it!  The ultimate accessory for this coming Falls trends and the “IT” bag is back.

Eighties shocking pink and electric blue, and passages of bright block color, notably two wide-shouldered coats in pillbox red, cinched at the waist by glazed alligator belts. Beyond the  superfluities of form, fabrics too were richly manipulated, as when green silk ruffles adorned a black wool coat, or a balloon skirt in green satin was covered in tiny black bows, and worn with a velvet and lace bra and a mannish jacket.

My question is who did it better the cool kids in the 80′s or today’s “new jack city’ set of cool kids.  Where the 80′s that bad? Is there a return to normality next to adventuresses? The collection was a sound track for Lady Gaga walking down the street singing her song Beautiful, Dirty, Rich.
Marc Jacob’s was able to put passion, design, and trend in a collection speaking to a huge audience. It will be interesting to see how the catwalk transcends to the street!
