Kris Van Assche at Paris Fashion Week

Kris Van Assche tries to balance a historical sense with radical modernism.  His refined Autumn/Winter 09 collection was showcased at Paris Fashion Week.  Originally born in Belgium in 1976, Kris graduated from Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts and moved to Paris in 1998.  After working at Yves Saint Laurent and Dior Homme, he began to show his original collections in 2005. 

This season’s ensembles incorporated sleek lines and were made from luxurious materials. 

Jumpsuits were a key trend throughout the Autumn/Winter shows and Kris’ show proved no exception.  This particular jumpsuit had an intricate and delicate pattern, the contrast between grey and black tones being particularly subtle.

Gold war incorporated into some of the ensembles to add a real touch of glamour to the classic, defined and strong outfits.  A-symmetry, once again, proved to be a key look in the collection, adding an quaint air to the show.  However, ultimately, the designs remained classic, with beautiful, sleek jackets.  While colour was not in abundance, tones and textures were explored to create a real depth to the outfits.
