Bumble&Bumble curling : Magical!
One of my everyday challenges is to turn every day I have to face the world into a “good hair day”. And let me tell you that this is no small feat.
Several things get in my way:
- a hectic schedule where I hardly have time for anything more complicated than a blow dry
- the fact that my hair near the bottom of my back, at a length that sends nearly every hairdresser I encounter into a frothy “Can I cut it” trance
- my natural aversion to doing anything remotely too complicated to it
My obsession with soft curls started when I saw SJP as a brunette with curls. Then my hair twin, “Queen B” Leighton Meester showed up with a fringe in real life and I was sold. Soft curls I would have!
Love Paris as I may, one of the downsides of living this side of the Atlantic is that all the haircare I heard people raving about was all but inaccessible to me until recently. Yes, there are some very good hairdressers in Paris but most of them are more interested in taking cisors to my mane rather than helping me care for it.
One afternoon, I decided to bite the bullet and head over to Colette to pick up some Bumble & Bumble products, which I’d meant to pick up in NYC and totally forgot about -along with a million other things other than long walks in the city-. Fortunatly enough, travel sizes of the products I wanted were available for the Prep mist I wanted and the adorable SA gave me some samples of the Curl Conscious defining cream to tide me over until full size products returned.

After an unsuccessful try with too much product, I really got the hang of it and the curls I managed to get out of my poker straight hair were perfect. Even without the Molton Browners, I managed to get curls by twisting my hair and drying it in place.
I’m hard to impress when it comes to “wavy hair” products. I’ve tried many things and most of them either failed pathetically or made my hair look unnatural. But this really blew me away. The curls held a good two days, until my next wash, mellowing out rather naturally, as if my hair was naturally wavy. I even got compliments on it, which means I must have been doing something good!
Considering the small amount I needed to define my curls, a full size bottle will go a long way, so Bumble&Bumble Curl Conscious is definitely on my must-have list.

Soft-curled Mademoiselle!
