Bill Tornade A/W 2009-2010 show

On Sunday, my Fashion Week endeavours ended with the Bill Tornade show in the Espace Saint Martin space near Beaubourg. A pretty relaxed audience waited patiently for the show to be ready.

Wow.

Certainly, Bill Tornade is no newcomer to the fashion world, with over 30 years of experience in reinventing classics peppered with innovative materials and thoughtful details. Sunday’s presentation was no exception and this autumn winter presentation.

Look after look dazzled us on this brightly lit runway with a touch of darklight, with boots from the Yohji Yamamoto for Dr Martens collection, which heralds the return of the iconic boot to the fore for everyone. So I hope you all kept your pairs or scored a pair from somewhere because they’re so hot next winter.

Love the little details, like the knitted colars from Les Tricots de Coco which add a little touch of whimsy to otherwise serious outfits. And by serious, I mean seriously gorgeous. Suits have classic cuts and move well. I also noticed some muted plaid on the runway, but without the obnoxious in-your-face colours chosen by other brands. Accessories are a key part of Bill Tornade’s looks: bags and thick knits show that casual comfort doesn’t mean giving up any style.

Bill Tornade’s man is definitely the kind of guy I would date. Relaxed but knows how to dress, with a dash of luxury.
